🌿 Herbal Medicine Dosage Guidelines 🌿

Acute Health Problems: Sudden, or critical imbalances needing attention quickly. 

Chronic Health Problems: Long term imbalances or imbalances that flare up with acute symptoms. 

 

Adult Dosages

Medicinal Teas

Acute: 1/4-1/2 cup or 1 quart spread out throughout the day, up to 3-4 cups per day.

Chronic/Tonic: 3-4 cups daily for several weeks. 

 

Tinctures & Extracts 

Acute: 2 dropperfuls every 2 to 3 hours for 1 to 2 days, then 2 dropperfuls 2 to 3 times per day for 5 days. (or 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon tincture every hour, for a total of up to 6 teaspoons daily) 

Chronic/Tonic: 1 dropperful tincture 3 times per day. (1/2 to 1 teaspoon tincture two or three times daily, for a total of up tp 3 teaspoons daily.) 

 

Syrups

Acute: 1/2 to 1 teaspoon syrup every 2 hours, for a total of up to 10 teaspoons daily. 

Chronic: 1-2 tablespoons twice daily or  as needed. 

 

Capsules 

Acute: 1 or 2 capsules or pills every 2 hours, for a total of up to 8 capsules daily. 

Chronic/Tonic: 2 or 3 capsules or pills two or three times daily, for a total of up tp 6 capsules daily. 

 

Children Dosages

Teas and syrups: Teaspoon doses 3 to 6 times per day, depending on case. 

Glycerin Tincture- 1 dropperful 3 to 4 times per day. 

 

When adult dosage is 1 cup (8 ounces)
